How did you get into skateboarding?
I read Radical Skateboard magazine at a convenience store when I was 17.......

What was so attractive?
I thought the boards were so cool. (Laughs)

You`ve been skating for a while. What is attarctive in skating?
It`s fun and hanging out with my friends.

Do friends who started skating with you still skate?
No. Not even one. It`s sad.

You are still killing the scene in Japan. What`s the secret to staying fit at your age?
Well, I`m a gardner.....

So you have no problem with physical stamina and strength.
Yep.

What`s your impression on 5boro team?
They are all about street skating.

Have you been abroad?
Only New York.

Any stories from New York?
Let`s see.....I wasn`t skating well that time.(Laughs)

Why? Were you hurt?
I sucked at skating back then. (Laughs)

What did you think of New York?
It was all about pushing and cruising around. Unlike park skating. It reminded me of the days I started skating.

How can you describe your skating style?
I just let my body move. I don`t really think about style. Actually, I hate it.(Laughs) I think it sucks. (Laughs)

Skatboard history had many trends come and go. Super baggy size jeans. Small cute wheels. When do you think it was the worst moment in the history of skateboarding?
I don`t think there was one. I also enjoyed the trends thinking they were cool back then.(Laughs)

Me, too. Well, besides skating, what else do you like?
Girls.

How did you get hooked up by 5boro?
Masanori Uruma, who rides for 5boro introduced me to the team and I got hooked up.

What`s your future like?
I have no idea. (Laughs)

What`s your latest project?
I`m involved inmaking a local video.

What are some of the changes you want to see in Japanese skateboarding?
I have a lot. It sounds a bit harsh but Japnese skateboard magazines are done.

Done?
None of them are impressive. There are just too many people who think magazines should focus only on Japanese skate scene. The vision is very narrow. They need to broaden their view.

I see. Who do you usually skate with?
Yoshiki.

Did you do any other sports besides skating?
No. Just skateboarding.

When was the toughest time in your skating career?
When I quit skating.

Really? When was that?
1995. I got really bored.

How long did you stay away from skating?
For about three and a half years.

Why did you quit?
It became too popular.........

How about the happiest time?
Now! (Laughs)

How do you relieve stress?
Generally, I don`t get stressed. (Laughs)

Lucky you.Out of all thye boards you`ve skated in your skating career, which board would you like to have again?
101 Jason Dill model. The one with the bicycle graphic. I used to ride it many times.

What`s the difference in "pro" status between Japan and the US?
In the US, usually you are a "pro"when you get a pro model.Yeah.....things are changing. There are more japanese pro models coming out. Mine is coming out in November.

That`s great. Congratulation!
Thanks.

What motivates you to skate?
Whenever I picture in my head the tricks that I want to stick....that`s when I really feel like skating.

How is skating in Tokyo different from other areas in Japan?
I don`t think there`s much difference but in rural areas it seems like people are more into par skating. They lack some street style.

What do you think about drugs?
People shouldn`t touch anything that is harmful or cause trouble to others. But it`s their choice. (Laughs)

What`s something you would like to change about yourself?
Can`t think of any........... I want to be smarter.(Laughs) Also be good at detail work.

Last thing you want to say?
Please check my pro model. Also the video I`m working on should be out sometime next year.

Good luck and I`ll be hearing more about you this year.
